Bevilacqua is a cultural curator who has cultivated conversation and connection among diverse publics for the past two decades. Most recently she was the Programs & Exhibitions Director at Providence Public Library (PPL). She served as Conversationalist-in-Residence at Trinity Repertory Company, and before that she curated public programming at the Providence Athenaeum, where in 2006 she founded a weekly Salon series bringing Athenaeum members and the general public together for conversations with artists, scholars, and community practitioners. She was also a longtime Board Member for RI Humanities. Her passion for the arts and deep commitment with the local community will provide LitArts RI the opportunity to strengthen its impact as an organization.
“I am incredibly excited and honored to join this beloved organization as Executive Director,” Bevilacqua says, “and look forward to getting to know each of its growing number of talented members and supporters, and to building investment in its vibrant and vital future.”
Board President Anne Holland says, “LitArts RI is thrilled that such a local luminary has accepted the role of leading our growth. Christina’s stewardship helped vastly expand membership, donors and sponsors for the Athenaeum. She also strengthened community and donor engagement for PPL while dramatically increasing the number of creatives whose work was featured for the public. Lastly, her appreciation for the written and spoken word, from poems to books to plays, is profound.”
Now entering its seventh year, LitArts RI is located at 400 Harris Avenue in the city’s Valley neighborhood, a creative hub that also includes neighbors The Steel Yard and Farm Fresh Rhode Island.
