Propose a Program

Thanks for your interest in working with us! LitArts RI is committed to supporting Rhode Island creatives and to cultivating programming that values and reflects the lived experiences, voices and literary traditions of our community. We offer the following opportunities for local teaching artists, authors, creative professionals and partner organizations.

OpenCall
Teaching Artists and Creative Professionals
LitArts RI regularly seeks facilitators for a limited number of craft workshops and practicums related to our annual theme. The open call for Fall 2023 programs is now closed. Check back in the spring for more opportunities.

Craft Workshops are deep dives into an aspect of writing/illustrating/podcasting technique.

Practicums  may include guest speakers, panels, round table discussions or community conversations for an audience of writers, illustrators and podcasters.

We are looking for enthusiastic artists and creative professionals with the ability to share their expertise with vision and skill. B/I/POC creatives, multilingual instructors and artists from diverse backgrounds across many genres are encouraged to apply. Advanced degrees (MFAs, MAs), a publication record and/or extensive teaching experience are not required.

Proposals are selected based on alignment with our nonprofit’s mission and annual theme, diversity of season offerings, current community needs, relevant experience, funding, and the clarity and strength of the proposal (review rubric here). If your proposal falls outside the current focus or capacity, we will keep it on file for one year for future consideration.

Our standard is to pay teaching artists $100/workshop hour. Facilitators also have the option to be compensated with coworking hours at our community workspace.

Members may also always use LitArts RI meeting rooms or Zoom account to host their own writing-related classes or discussions (and we’ll help promote!). Contact us to request your free rental.

Partnerships
Partner Events
We accept partnership proposals from organizations, collectives and other local or creative entities for co-hosted events or series that align with our mission and values. We hope partnerships will infuse our communities with cross-over connections and energy. Both short-term proposals (single events) as well as longer-term proposals (series of workshops, showcases, discussions, etc.) are welcome.

Partner programs will be selected based on alignment with our nonprofit’s mission, values and annual theme, organizational capacity, current community needs, diversity of season offerings and the clarity and strength of the proposal (review rubric
here).

Proposals are considered on a rolling basis. Please submit your proposal at least three months before the proposed event(s).
